Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia. This incurable, degenerative, and progressive disease is marked by memory loss and inability to acquire new memories. It is most often diagnosed in people over 65 years of age – but can effect those much younger. One in 8 baby boomers will develop the disease and there are 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s today.
We can help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research by participating in the upcoming Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. There are various walks scheduled for October 1st and 2nd, one of which is probably close to you. Assisted Living Services, Inc. will be participating and sponsoring a team again this year. You can register at www.alz.org/ct.
